Robert N. “Coach” Deveau, Sr, of Danielson, formerly of Bridgeport and Putnam, died March 20. Born May 17, 1935, he was the fourth son of Jeanne and Lawrence Deveau.
His son Robert Deveau, Jr, of Newtown; daughters Lyn Stokes of Central Village, Janniece Zinsky of Putnam, and Lori Ann Deveau of Danielson; a brother; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive Mr Deveau.
He was a Korean veteran serving with the US Marine Corps, honorably discharged in 1956.
He began his teaching career at Notre Dame High School in Fairfield, was the athletic director, and coached football and track. He was a lifetime member of the National Football Coaches Association, Connecticut High School Coaches Association, National Education Association, and the Connecticut Education Association
A Mass of Christian Burial took place March 23. Burial with Military Honors was in St Mary’s Cemetery, Putnam.
