Edina Nakano, 75, of Newtown, a loving mother, grandmother, and friend, died March 3. Born in Budapest, Hungary, she immigrated to the United States at the age of 19, after the 1956 Hungarian Uprising. She married the love of her life, Dr Yoshizo Nakano, on February 14, 1959. Dr Nakano is a physician who retired from Fairfield Hills Hospital.
The Nakanos became residents of Newtown in 1970, where they raised four sons. She was a vivacious, compassionate, and caring woman, who had a zest for life and her family.
In addition to her husband, her sons Michael, and his wife Jillian, and Steven, all of Newtown, Robert, and wife Debbie, of Brookfield, and Peter, and wife Joan, of Southington; her siblings Gabrielle Gleason, and husband Steve, of Newtown, Elizabeth Mapsicza, and husband Andy, of Southbury, and Anthony Nemet of Hungary; her grandchildren Robert, Jr, Nicolette, Alexander, and Colton; and several nieces and nephews survive Mrs Nakano. Her mother, Elizabeth Heinrich, and her father, Gaspar Nemeth, predeceased her.
Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Thursday, March 7, from 5 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, Friday, March 8, at 11 am. Interment will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery.
