Michael James Volpe, 59, a 17-year resident of Newtown, died peacefully, March 1, at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Bridgeport, November 10, 1953, a son of Lena (Trovarelli) and James Volpe of Bridgeport.
He was raised in Bridgeport and attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. He was married to his loving wife, Penny (Roujansky) Volpe.
Mr Volpe was a huge sports fan, particularly a baseball lover. In his younger years, Mr Volpe worked as both a coach and an umpire for Little League baseball leagues around Connecticut. He was also an enormous Yankee fan.
He was a loyal employee of MBI in Danbury for 25 years.
Further, he had a beautiful voice and was a beloved member of the St Rose of Lima Church choir.
In addition to his wife and mother, his two sons, Joshua and Izaiah, and his brother, James, all of Newtown, survive Mr Volpe.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown, March 4. Interment was in Mountain Grove of Easton Cemetery.
