On Thursday, May 15, Flagpole Photographers Camera Club will host its May competition with an assigned subject of “Main Street, Newtown.”
Members will have to take a photo somewhere between Ram Pasture and Currituck Road to qualify.
The public is invited to view these photographs, along with the Open Color and Open Black & White entries, during the meeting and program to be held in The Olga Knoepke Meeting Room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. The event will begin at 7:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
A few days later, the club will celebrate its 2014 Annual Exhibit with an opening reception on Sunday, May 18, from 2 to 4 pm, also in the library’s lower meeting room. The showcase will display over 100 photographs by members of the local photographers club.
The public is invited to the reception, where many of the photographers represented in the exhibition will be in attendance. Refreshments will be served, and all visitors will be invited to vote on their favorite photograph for the People’s Choice Award.
Additional awards will be presented following the critiquing of 18 regional judges, including Judges’ Best in Show, The Dave Kriger Nature Award, The Jeannette Talarino Flower Award, and Bruce Allen Open Print Awards in Color and Black and White.
The 2014 Annual Exhibit will remain on view until June 25, and can be viewed any time the library is open (when the meeting room is not in use). C.H. Booth Library’s regular hors are Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 8 pm; Friday, 11 am to 5 pm; Saturday, 9:3 0am to 5 pm; and Sunday, noon to 5 pm.
