Newtown Continuing Education recently released a list of some of its upcoming programs. The following classes still have limited openings available.
Bus trips have been arranged. One trip, scheduled for March 17, for a fee of $84 will go to the Boston Flower and Garden Show. Another trip, set for April 27, will go to the USS Intrepid and 9/11 Memorial, for a fee of $106.
A six-class course called “Hand Painted Furniture” will teach participants to turn old furniture into masterpieces. The course is set to start March 13, and will be held from 7 pm to 9 pm on Wednesdays. The fee is $99.
A Word 2010 three-class course is set to start March 14. It will be offered on Thursdays from 6:30 pm to 9 pm for a fee of $89.
An Excel 2010 course will be offered Mondays, from 6:30 pm to 9 pm, starting on April 1 for a fee of $89.
A Social Media course will teach attendees how children, parents, grandparents, and businesses use various social networking sites to their advantage. The two-class course will be offered Wednesdays, April 3 and 10, from 6:30 pm to 8 pm, for a fee of $49.
A Hatha Yoga eight-class course will be offered Mondays from 6 pm to 7 pm starting March 11 for a fee of $79. The course will help participants learn postures designed to loosen hips, back, and neck. It will also help establish a sound foundation in the practice of yoga.
A Basic Watercolor Techniques six-class course will be offered on Thursdays, starting March 14, from 6:30 pm to 9 pm, for a fee of $124. The course is designed to teach basic techniques for using water as an expressive and versatile way to paint.
Financial Strategies for Successful Retirement, a three-class course, will be offered Thursday starting on March 14, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, for a fee of $29. The course is set to teach important money management concepts and issues that are important to people near or at retirement in a way that is easy to understand.
A one-session Goal Oriented Investing course will be offered on Wednesday, March 13, from 7 pm to 9 pm for a fee of $29. The workshop will help participants establish a plan and develop an investment strategy that will use market fluctuations to their advantage.
