Donald A. Wagner, 76, of Sandy Hook, and formerly of Milford and Monroe, died May 3, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Derby, December 15, 1936, he was the son of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Thornhill Wagner. He was the beloved husband for nearly 50 years of the late Barbara M. Shackleton Wagner.
A US Army veteran, Mr Wagner had a long, proud history of working his family’s Wagner Christmas tree farm in Trumbull. He was a “happy go lucky” man who had a love for family and a talent for fixing all things. Before retirement, he was an engineer for the Southern Connecticut Gas Company, and also owned his own meter repair business.
Survivors include his children, Laurie L. DiNallo and her husband, Michael, and Mark Wagner, all of Sandy Hook; four beloved grandchildren, Connor, Emma, Noah, and Joshua DiNallo; and a brother-in-law, Peter Wilson of Fairfield. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday, May 8, at 11 am, directly at the Monroe Congregational Church, 34 Church Road, Monroe. Interment with full military honors will follow in St Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Tuesday, May 7, from 5 to 8 pm, at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
