  • Following President Obama's Lead, Governor Malloy Orders Flags Lowered To Honor Boston Victims

HARTFORD – Governor Dannel P. Malloy, following a proclamation from President Barack Obama, has ordered US and Connecticut flags to fly at half-staff in honor of the victims of yesterday’s bombing at the Boston Marathon.

  • Malloy’s Impatience Is Misplaced

    To the Editor:

Governor Malloy recently criticized Newtown’s handling of the Sandy Hook School Support Fund.  He said Newtown’s actions were “much too slow.”

Seriously? Who makes the timetable for this sort of thing? From his perch in Hartford, does the governor have any respect for the collective wisdom and experience of those overseeing the disbursement of the fund?

  • Malloy Lays Back On Guns, For Now

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy seems to be following the unlikely example of Goldilocks in dealing with the legislature on gun-control after Sandy Hook. He is looking for an approach that is just right after first being too soft, then too hard.

He wants the legislature to pass a strict ban on the sale and possession of large-capacity magazines, like the ones Adam Lanza used to kill 20 first graders and six educators. But he won't say if its absence would be a deal breaker, an invitation to a veto.

  • Malloy: Preliminary 12/14 Details To Be Released By March 29

Following the release of confidential 12/14 investigation material after a New Orleans law enforcement symposium session featuring a Connecticut State Police official, Governor Dannel Malloy announced that some preliminary information regarding the case will be released on or before March 29.

  • Governor Malloy Orders Flags To Half-Staff In Honor Of Army Captain Andrew Pedersen-Keel

HARTFORD — Governor Dannel P. Malloy ordered US and Connecticut flags to fly at half-staff to honor Army Captain Andrew M. Pedersen-Keel who was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan. The order was issued on Wednesday, March 13. Captain Pedersen-Keel has family in Madison.

  • Governor Malloy Proposes Stronger Gun Control Measures

HARTFORD – Urging state legislators to act swiftly, Governor Dannel P. Malloy has proposed a set of gun control laws intended to make the state a safer place.

The governor’s proposal comes in the wake of the December 14 Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in which a 20-year-old gunman shot his way into the school with a semiautomatic rifle, after which he shot and killed 20 first-graders and six educators before killing himself as police approached.

  • State Revenue Semantics

Some would say Governor Dannel P. Malloy was a man of courage for vowing not to raise taxes going into FY2014, where a $1.2 billion revenue shortfall awaits him. And it seems he is undertaking this daunting mission armed only with a fertile imagination and some well-honed semantics.

Malloy, Newtown First Selectman Pat Llodra, and Newtown Cultural Arts Commission Chair Jennifer Johnston spoke at the space’s grand opening on Thursday, February 14.
