• Police Reports, July 30-August 10, 2015

    DUI Incident

    Police report that they received numerous complaints regarding a motorist driving erratically on Interstate 84, who later got off I-84 at Exit 11 and was then seen driving erratically on local roads at about 10 pm on August 8.

    Police said they found the motorist in question and stopped him on Mile Hill Road to investigate.

    DUI Incident

    Police said they received a report that a gray 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser SUV was being driven erratically by a motorist in a parking lot at Newtown High School at 12 Berkshire Road at about 2:18 pm on April 22, so they went there to investigate.

    Police said they investigated and then charged motorist Paula King, 52, of 23 Surrey Trail with driving under the influence.

    Multiple Charges

    Police said they received a complaint from a person on Sugar Street concerning erratic driving, so they investigated and located the vehicle in question at about 10 am on April 16.

  • Vandals Strike During Halloween Period

    Police report they received nine calls from residents concerning cases of minor vandalism which they  had discovered at their properties on and after Halloween.

    The incidents reported to police were typical of the vandalism that occurs during the Halloween period, including cases such as intentionally damaged curbside mailboxes, according to police.

    Mail Truck

    Police said that at about 11:51 am on November 3, Paul Recine, 40, of Seymour, who was driving a 1987 Grumann US Mail delivery truck, stopped near 24 Toddy Hill Road to deliver some mail, after which the mail truck was hit from behind by motorist Alexci Piche Lopez, 43, of Sedro-Wolley, Wash., who was driving a 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.

    Riverside Burglary

    Police report that a house in the vicinity of Oak Trail/Laurel Trail in the Riverside section of Sandy Hook was burglarized sometime on September 28, or during the first half of September 29.

    According to police, a white male who has a scruffy beard drove to the residence in a white work van and then allegedly forced his way into the house.

    Streetlamp Vandalism

    Police report an incident in which several youths used BB-gun weapons to shoot out streetlamps in the area of West Street and Roosevelt Drive at about 10:30 pm on Monday, June 30.

    After responding to that area, police found that the gunfire had shattered two lenses on streetlamp fixtures.

    Police are investigating the property damage and ask anyone with knowledge of the criminal mischief to contact them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.

    Chain Reaction

    A three-vehicle chain-reaction accident occurred in stopped traffic near 75 South Main Street about 7:25 am on April 14. All vehicles were traveling southward.

    Police said motorist Timothy Hendrie, 57, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2007 BMW-XIC coupe, struck the rear end of a 2012 Nisan Altima sedan driven by Jill Brooks, 27, of Danbury, pushing the Nissan into the rear end of a 1996 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Nafi Biba, 54, of Danbury.

    Honda vs Toyota

    At about 2:48 pm on February 16, motorist Rachel Bolinsky, 23, of 3 Wiley Lane, who was driving a 2004 Toyota Prius northward on Boggs Hill Road, stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Boggs Hill Road and Sugar Street, police said.

    Northbound motorist Victor Vasquez, 17, of 3 Todds Road, who was driving a 2007 Honda Accord, then struck the rear end of the Toyota, police said.

  • Police Reports October 4 - 11, 2013

    Holster Found

    Police report that at about 12:15 am on October 14, a person found a black, molded leather, paddle-style holster in the Vining Road area. Such holsters are used to carry a pistol on a waist belt. Vining Road is a side street off Toddy Hill Road. The holster’s owner may contact police at the police station to claim the item.
