Two Newtown Artists In Silvermine Faculty Exhibition

NEW CANAAN — The Silvermine Arts Center, 1037 Silvermine Road, will present a special faculty exhibition, Thursday, August 21, through Thursday, September 11, in Silvermine’s Sara Victoria Hall, with an opening reception scheduled for Thursday, August 21, at 6:30 pm.

Among the teaching staff showing at the exhibit are two artists from Newtown, Rachel Morris and Joanne Conant.

Ms Morris has been with Silvermine for a year. She teaches classes and workshops in jewelry and metalsmithing, both at the intro and intermediate levels. She also teaches Youth Intro to Jewelry, a jewelry-making independent study course, and a workshop on waxworking.

Ms Conant is a master artist who teaches two workshops, “Shading with Transparent Enamels” and “Textured Silverfoil.” She has also been with Silvermine for a year.

To coincide with the faculty exhibition, the arts center will host an open house Sunday, September 7, from 2 to 4 pm. Visitors can tour the campus and studios, meet with faculty, see demonstrations by Silvermine faculty members, participate in hands-on activities, and register for courses and workshops.
