Customers of Friendly Citgo on South Main Street have a once-a-year opportunity today: The chance to throw a pie into store manager Carol Lafreniere’s face. Ms Lafreniere has organized another fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Whipped cream pies are just waiting for customers who make a $5 donation to MDA. Carol and crew are hoping to raise $600 this afternoon, which will cover the cost for a child to spend one week at an MDA-sponsored summer camp. Shamrocks Against Dystrophy® are also available to help the fundraising effort. They are $1 for a green paper shamrock and $5 for a gold one. In addition, Cherries Cupcakes — a cupcake shop located across the street from the convenience store and gas station, which plans to open on March 20 — has donated cupcakes for anyone who makes a donation to MDA today. The fundraiser continues until 5 pm at 151 South Main Street. Store employee Theresa Roberto, on the left, has waited months for her chance to be the first in line to take up the pie-in-the-face offer.
