Just like he did in April, Joe Paccia spent a few hours quietly hanging his newest exhibition of works last week.on view for four weeks at C.H. Booth Library. The Newtown Bee that month that he preferred to just offer his works for the enjoyment of others.

Mr Paccia, a resident of Newtown, had his first show within town this past spring, when 13 large-scale oils and a similarly-sized stained glass work were put

Now his work is on view in the main corridor at Newtown Municipal Center. Residents, and anyone visiting the town's seat of government, can view the works weekdays between 8 am and 4:30 pm (as well as when the building is open for meetings) through at least the end of August.

No opening or closing receptions are scheduled for "Joe Paccia: Oil Paintings," the artist said this week. He did the same for his April show, telling

"There are a total of 43 paintings" on view, said Mr Paccia. "A few of the paintings were in the show at the library, but most are current work that has never been shown.

"I also included some older landscapes and paintings from my 'Dragon Period' in the early 90s," he added. That collection, which can be viewed on his website (joepaccia.com), is made up of paintings featuring dragons, fairies, castles, and landscapes in mythical settings.

Mr Paccia works in oils, putting them onto linen. The majority of his work offers a strong Impressionist feel, and for good reason.

"Monet is my hero," he said in April.

Mr Paccia studied fine arts at Southeastern Massachusetts University, with a major in painting. He dabbled in abstract works while in college, and then landscapes. Earlier styles also included fantasty and portraiture, but he has returned in recent years to his longstanding favorite: landscapes.

Newtown Municipal Center is at 3 Primrose Street, within the Fairfield Hills campus.
