McEvoy To Offer Artist Demo For SCAN
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Newtown artist Dick McEvoy painting a pastel landscape on Wednesday, April 27, beginning at 1:30 pm.
The program will take place in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). The public is invited, free of charge.
Drawing upon the painting energy of Jackson Pollack, the colors of Claude Monet, and the closeness to nature of Andrew Wyeth, Dick McEvoy will demonstrate his signature style he calls "Abstract Impressionism." Mr McEvoy will be using as a starting point one of his new oil and enamel paintings, "Tangle of Bachelor Buttons," and will reinterpret it in a pastel demonstration. He will present what looks at first to be a reckless abandon of pastel strokes and work them into a finished abstract impressionist painting.
Dick McEvoy is past board member of Pastel Society of America and Connecticut Pastel Society. He was a featured artist in Pastel Journal, American Art Collector Magazine and the French magazine Practique Des Arts. He is also an award winner in art shows throughout New England.
Reservations are not needed to SCAN programs, but additional information is available by calling Ruth Newquist, at 203-426-6654.
