The Newtown Bee is putting out a final call to residents or readers to send any questions they may want to ask state legislative contenders participating in the newspaper's free annual Candidates Forum, which will be held Tuesday, October 18, from 7:30 to 9 pm, on stage at Edmond Town Hall Theatre, 45 Main Street. There will be a pre-event meet-and-greet session opening at 7 pm in the Town Hall lobby.

Participating candidates include:

*106th District incumbent Representative Mitch Bolinsky, and Democratic challenger Eva B. Zimmerman;

*Second District challengers Republican William Duff and Democrat Raghib Allie-Brennan; and

*State Senate District 28 incumbent Republican Tony Hwang, and Democratic challenger Philip Dwyer.

To provide maximum exposure to the ideas and responses of participants in contested races, 112th District incumbent J.P. Sredzinski will not be participating because he is running unopposed.

Organizers are hoping to see the 2016 forum depart from its previously moderated question and answer format, by opting for a town hall-style event featuring resident constituents joining candidates to ask their own questions in a somewhat less formal dialog.

Any resident or reader interested in articulating one or two questions to candidates in that more personal and intimate setting must e-mail those questions and contact information, including a phone number, to the event producer, Associate Editor John Voket (john@thebee.com) by midnight, Sunday, October 2. Please include 2016 Candidates Forum in the subject line.

The forum is being hosted as a community service by The Bee Publishing Company, Inc, which reserves the right to adjust the planned format if too few resident questions are received. If the forum is presented as planned, one participating resident will be picked to receive a one-year subscription or subscription renewal to the newspaper.
