In addition to houses of worship and The Resiliency Center of Newtown offering opportunities for quiet reflection on the anniversary of the December 14, 2012 tragedy in Sandy Hook, Frank Shane and his canine service dog, Chance, will be in Newtown on December 14, attending all religious and interfaith groups: Christian, Muslim, Bahai, and Jewish. Visits are also planned at The Resiliency Center of Newtown for the community to gather or receive emotional support.

Mr Shane is founder and executive director of the humanitarian organization and a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress and PTSD. He works with his faithful partner and service canine, Chance. He holds multi-level certifications, including, Board Certified Trauma Specialist and Diplomat with the Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and The National Center for Crisis Management. He teaches courses nationally in Canine Disaster Relief Services, Critical Incident Stress Management, The Human-Animal-Bond and the Psychology and Behavior of Dogs.

Mr Shane said, “A dog helps ease the pain and heartbreak during times of unfathomable grief.” They first came to offer support in 2012. Reflecting back on that tragic December day he explained, ”Dogs like Chance give hope and unconditional love when there are no words.” Friday, December 14th is the sixth anniversary of the tragedy at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT. K-9 Disaster Relief, a non-profit humanitarian organization offers its services to children, teachers, parents and caregivers.

The organization collaborates with schools through its innovative program “K-9 for Kids” designed for children, parents and caregivers.

Service dog, Chance, of K9 Disaster Relief, visited Newtown shortly after the tragedy of 12/14. Chance and handler Frank Shane will be in Newtown this year to offer comfort at various houses of worship and the Resiliency Center of Newtown.
