Special Activities

Special activities listed below will be ongoing during regular EverWonder museum hours, unless noted.

*Art Labs for Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays, through July 31, are Paper Plate Jellyfish and Cupcake Liner Fish.

In Paper Plate Jellyfish, children will decorate paper plates and tissue paper to make jellyfish. In Cupcake Liner Fish, children will use cupcake liners to make liner fish. In both activities, children will learn about oceanography and ichthyology.

*Friday, July 1: Science Lab: Echolocation Experiment.

Children will speak through a paper towel tube against a tin tray while a friend listens through a paper towel tube at the opposite angle.

Our young scientists will learn about the principles of echolocation and how both humans and animals use echolocation.

*Saturday and Sunday, July 2-3: Art Lab: Patriotic Lanterns.

Learn about the origins of the 4th of July while creating patriotic lanterns out of paper.

*Wednesday, July 6: Science Lab: Ocean Zones Experiment.

Learn about the five layers of the ocean. Children will use colored bottles to simulate the five ocean zones: trench zone, abyss, midnight zone, twilight zone, and sunlight zone.

*Friday, July 8, 10 am to 2 pm: Ranger Nate At EverWonder.

Learn about animals from EverWonder's favorite animal expert, Ranger Nate, during the first of two scheduled visits this month.

*Monday, July 11: STEAM Mondays: Squirt Gun Painting.

Children will use squirt guns filled with paint to shoot at their canvas to make a fun painting. They can use different pressure, colors, and distances to make their painting unique. They will also put their mark on a community mural.

This program is geared for children ages 5 and up. Cost is $15 per child ($7.20 for EverWonder members).

*Friday, July 15, Science Lab: Ocean Zone Animals.

Children will learn about the different sea life that lives in each of the zones about in the previous week's lab. They will then identify them and the zones in a tabletop game.

*Sunday, July 17, Art Lab: Ice Cream Day.

Celebrate National Ice Cream Day! Using glue, shaving cream, and food coloring, children will use their homemade puffy paint to make ice cream cone art.

*Monday, July 18, STEAM Mondays: Sink or Float.

Children will be given various materials to try to create a boat that will float. After successfully creating a floating boat, children will test how much weight the boat can hold before it sinks.

Cost for this week's program is $12 per child ($4.50 members).

*Wednesday, July 20, Science Lab: Ocean in a Bottle.

Oil and colored in a bottle will show the motion of waves.
