John Joseph Farrell, Sr, 90, of Newtown died October 8 at Rocky Hill Veterans Hospital. He was born in Queens, N.Y., November 25, 1925, son of the late Ann (Walsh) and Peter Farrell. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Grace (LeMaire) Farrell.

Mr Farrell served with the Coast Guard during World War II. He was a truck driver, mechanic, and heavy equipment operator all of his life. He was a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians and the Catholic War Veterans. He was an amateur blacksmith and loved to collect tools. He also loved country fairs, where he often displayed his tools and taught people about their use.

His sons, Patrick M. Farrell and his wife, Carol, of Newtown, and John J. Farrell, Jr, and his wife, Linda; two grandsons, Patrick and Christopher; as well as great-grandchildren survive him.

The family will receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel, on Wednesday, October 12, from 6 to 8 pm.

Burial in Calverton National Cemetery. Calverton, N.Y., will be private.
