Jane Maher Wheeler

Jane Maher Wheeler, 65, of Newtown died peacefully at home on October 14, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Jane Patricia Maher, April 19, 1951, in Flushing, N.Y., and was a daughter of the late Marguerite (Dwyer) and William A. Maher.

Ms Wheeler was the beloved life partner of Paul Taylor, and in addition to him is survived by her pride and joy, her loving son, Colby Wheeler of Newtown; her two loving sisters, Eileen Maher Grayce and husband, Dr Paul Grayce, of Beaufort, S.C., and Sheila Anne Maher of Newtown; a niece; and several cousins.

She was a pupil at St Rose School, graduated with Newtown High School's Class of 1969, and attended Marymount University in Arlington, Va.

She was employed by the Town of Newtown for 36 years as a school bus owner/operator. Ms Wheeler touched the lives of children, parents, and many co-workers and friends as a lifelong resident of Newtown.

A devoted fan of the New York Yankees, she never missed the opportunity to watch a game with her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Friday, October 21, at 11 am, followed by a private family interment at St Rose Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western Connecticut at regionalhospicect.org.

The Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, is serving the family.
