Girls' And Boys' Track And Field Teams Post Wins

Newtown High School's girls' outdoor track and field team defeated Joel Barlow of Redding 103.5-46.5 and Stratford 143-6 at Blue & Gold Stadium on April 25, improving to 4-0. The boys' squad went to Joel Barlow in Redding on April 26 and defeated Barlow 95-55, Stratford 139-11, and Notre Dame-Fairfield 146-3 to improve to 5-0. Results are as follows:

 

Girls

4x800: 1. Madison Findley, Grace Corcoran, Emily Neave, Erin Tressler, 10:32.3.

4x100: 1. Brianna Lovely, Emma Curtis, Sarah Dowling, Carly Swierbut, 52.3.

100 hurdles: 1. Makenna Cerney 16.9, 2. Lauren King 18.1, 3. Audrey Benson 18.4.

100 dash: 2. Swierbut 12.6.

1600: 1. Sarah Mawdsley 5:40.9, 3. Willow Pears 6:10.1

400: 2. Corcoran 66.0.

300 hurdles: 1. Cerney 48.4, 2. Jordan Stofko 52.9, 3. Benson 54.4

800: 1. Erin Tressler 2:31.6, 2. Maddie Findley 2:38.7, 3. Olivia Caplan 2:42.3.

Shot-put: 1. Annika Alexander 31-11.5, 3. Cohane 26-3.5.

Boys

4x800: Ryan Escoda, Christian Lestik, Brendan Reeds, and Joel Duval improved their Class LL championship time by running a time of 8:36.98.

4x100: Hunter Cobb, Kevin Arther, Ben Mason, and Ethan Carpenter improved their Class LL time with a time of 46.30.

4x400: Jacob Steinebrey, Richard Linley, Joel Duval and Kevin Arther ran a time 3:47.00.

110 hurdles: Cole Terry 16.26, Brett Deri 17.8, and Thomas Hartley 19.7.

100: Ethan Carpenter 11.6, Brett Deri 11.7 (qualified for SWC championships), and Hunter Cobb 11.8.

1600: Brendan Reeds 4:55.89 and Christian Lestik 4:56.78.

400: Richard Linley ran a 54.0 and qualified for the SWC championships, Joel Duval 56.6, and Dylan Lew 59.1.

300 hurdles: Brett Deri 44.95, Jacob Laros 49.8, and Thomas Hartley 51.4.

800: Dylan Bartlett 2:14.86, Ryan Escoda 2:16.77, and TJ Linse 2:22.76.
