The Garden Club of Newtown will host “Bonding with Birds” at its next monthly meeting, scheduled for the afternoon of Tuesday, February 26.

The public is invited to the free presentation by Margaret Robbins of Wild Birds Unlimited in Brookfield. The program will begin at 1 pm and will be in the lower community/meeting room of the library, 25 Main Street.

Wild Birds Unlimited is a backyard bird feeding and nature store Ms Robbins opened in June 2007.

Her fascination with birds began at a young age while watching her parents’ feeders. She is now an avid bird-feeder and birder with a life list of more than 475 different species.

Ms Robbins has taken bird biology classes at Cornell University Laboratory of Ornithology; an animal behavior course; and has taught bird biology, nesting, bird-feeding, and identification classes. Before opening her store, she was employed by National Audubon Society at their Greenwich location and also led Audubon birding cruises along the New England Coast and Baja Mexico.

Ms Robbins now leads local bird walks in the greater Danbury area and birding tours to southeast Arizona.

There will be time for Q&A following the presentation.

Reservations are not needed for Garden Club of Newtown programs, but additional information is available by contacting Mary Thomas at 203-426-9696 or met9696@gmail.com.

Margaret Robbins with friend.
