To the Editor:Grievance Rewarded" Letter Hive, 2/5/16].

There is no equation between the high school's tribute mural and government-sponsored religious symbols ["

Government-sponsored religious symbols are unconstitutional, not because they "aggrieve" people, but because they marginalize non-adherents of majority faiths by projecting an exclusionary message. ("This is a Christian/Judeo-Christian town.  Like it, lump it or leave.")  They also make for ugly religious politics.  ("Display my symbol."  "No, mine.")

Having taught and practiced constitutional law for nigh half a century, I know of no constitutional right not to be "aggrieved" by the high school's tribute mural.  And I agree that Superintendent Erardi overreacted by having it covered.  But let's not muddy the waters with false analogies.
