Elizabeth Ann Gorsuch

Elizabeth Ann Gorsuch, 76, of Sandy Hook died April 22. She was born in San Francisco, March 17, 1940.

She grew up in San Antonio, Texas, graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School around 1957. She was active on the swimming, diving, and lasso drill teams. She pursued her college degree at Lindenwood College in St Charles, Mo., majoring in psychology with an emphasis on Spanish and music.

Ms Gorsuch taught Spanish for many years, and later went back to school and became a social worker. She spent the majority of her life in Texas, Guam, Michigan, Florida, Maryland, Missouri, and Connecticut. She focused her later career on helping those with mental abuse or substance issues. Ms Gorsuch had compassion, empathy, and the ability to listen well.

Her many interests included studying the Bible, art, gardening, computers, music, creative writing, and travel. She had a beautiful soprano voice, sang in many choirs, and sang solos as her mom accompanied her on the piano.

Her children Jennifer Ellicott Herod, and her husband William Clark, of Sandy Hook, Timothy Ellicott Herod of Florida, Stacy Herod Marks of St Louis, Kristina Herod, and her husband Kiron Lahiri, of St Louis, and Christopher Herod, and wife Ashley, of Maryland; ten grandchildren; her sister Ellen Gorsuch, and husband Larry Amundson, of Colorado; and her brother Dr Paul Gorsuch, Jr, and wife Lea Eisheid, of Montana survive Ms Gorsuch. Her parents, Dr Paul and Evelyn Gorsuch of San Antonio,  and grandparents, Frank and Inez Gorsuch of Newtown Square, Penn., and Frank and Lydia Jedlicka of San Antonio, predeceased her.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Churchill Road, Sandy Hook, at 4 pm, Friday, April 29.
