To the Editor:

I want to express my deepest gratitude to all who supported me in this emotional and charged election. It is an honor and a privilege to continue serving Connecticut’s 28th District as State Senator. It is an enormous responsibility to represent everyone, and it is one that I do not take lightly.

I also congratulate our newly elected Governor Lamont and fellow members of the Connecticut General Assembly. I look forward to working together to address the unprecedented challenges ahead, and create a sustainable path for the future of our state.

Voter turnout is a great reflection of political engagement, and on November 6, the people of 28th Senate District showed that they are interested and insist on being heard. The reality is, the challenges in front of us are massive. We do not have the luxury of a wait-and-see attitude. My hope is that we, as a state and as a people, are able to bridge any divide that lies between us and work collaboratively to implement viable solutions.

I believe that fiscal accountability is the bedrock of job creation and economic growth. Prioritizing spending and empowering our businesses are just a few of the steps necessary for long-term growth and success. In the process, we must not lose sight of our moral responsibility to protect our most vulnerable and at-risk communities. We can and must balance fiscal accountability with social responsibility.

You have heard me talk about my commitment to community. It is something that I believe is at the very heart of public service. My promise to the people of District 28 is that I will remain committed and willing to collaborate and will represent you to the best of my ability. We are in this together, and that is a great thing.

Tony Hwang, Senator 28th district

Legislative Office Building, Room 3400
