Cave Comics' New Building Under Construction

A local comic book emporium that previously shared space with the Burgerrittoville Restaurant in the former railroad depot off Church Hill Road, will be relocating soon to a new building on the grounds. Construction on that new building commenced this week, according to a post on the Cave Comics Facebook page.The Newtown Bee that an old structure on the premises - a small, long-empty building to the east of the former train depot -  was razed. The new building at that location will be a roughly 880-square-foot single story structure.

A July 19 post states: "After 27 years Cave Comics is moving. Not far though, only about 60 feet. We are moving into a new building next to the station. Burgerrittoville will be taking over the entire station for a new and improved restaurant."

Director of Planning George Benson, who met with property owners for an update on construction the same day, told

The project site, pending approval, will also feature new and improved landscaping according to Mr Benson, and occupancy is expected to occur by October.

Information at Cavecomics.com states the store currently boasts a large selection of back issues of comics, approximately 20,000 issues, from the "Silver Age," to current titles, graphic novels and trade paperbacks, and more than 3,000 books from DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Image, IDW, Boom, and other publishers.

The store's selection includes miniature games by Games Workshop, Flames of War and Warmachines & Hordes by Privateer Press, role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons, Savage Worlds, Warhammer Fantasy, Pathfinder and the White Wolf line of RPG's, as well as board games such as Settlers of Catan, Arkham Horror, Axis & Allies, Carcassonne, Agricola, Ticket to Ride and others by Z-Man games, Fantasy Flight and Days of Wonder.

For many years, Cave Comics has also hosted sanctioned Friday night magic tournaments and magic release tournaments.

A new foundation adjacent to the railroad bridge off Church Hill Road is the beginning of a new building that will house Cave Comics. The popular local comic and game store will relocate from the former railroad depot to make room for an expansion of the Burgerrittoville Restaurant, according to a Facebook post made by the comic store operators.
