Barbara A. Bowers, 83, of Attleboro, Mass., formerly of Seekonk, Mass., died September 15 in the Life Care Center of Attleboro, Mass. She was the wife of the late Alexander L. Bowers, Sr, who died in 2001. She was born in Lynn, Mass., a daughter of Maurice T. and Minnie M. (Chisolm) Briggs.

She leaves three sons, Alexander L. Bowers, Jr, and his wife, Peg, of Sandy Hook, Jon M. Bowers and his wife, Susan, and Mark C. Bowers and his wife, Lesley, both of Attleboro; one brother, George C. Briggs of Houston, Texas; one sister, Mary D. Clark of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Steven, Chelsea, Courtney, and Jamie; and several nieces and nephews.

After graduating from college she taught elementary school in Washington State for three years. Mrs Bowers had lived in Seekonk for 45 years and was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church of Seekonk where she was very active in church affairs, including the Missionary Society at the church, and teaching Sunday School.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, September 20, at 9 am, from the Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main Street (Route 152) in Attleboro, followed by a service at 10 am in the Memorial Baptist Church, 340 Central Avenue, Seekonk. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours with a video tribute is scheduled in the Foley Chapel on Friday, September 19 from 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the Memorial Baptist Church 340 Central Avenue, Seekonk MA 02771 would be appreciated.
