Newtown Hook & Ladder Firefighter Milton Adams sweeps some accident debris from a motorcycle saddlebag to the curb following a collision that involved a motorcycle and a sedan at about 8:25 am on August 8 at the intersection of Main Street and Currituck Road. Police said motorist Danielle Murray, 41, of 13 Currituck Road, who was driving a 2002 Mercedes-Benz 320 sedan, stopped at a stop sign on Currituck Road and was waiting to make a left turn onto southbound Main Street, as motorcyclist James Blankschen, 40, of Southbury was riding a 2010 Harley-Davidson FLHX northward on Main Street. The sedan then attempted to make the left turn in front of the approaching motorcycle, and the motorcyclist attempted to avoid contact, but the two vehicles collided, police said. Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members checked Blankschen at the accident scene and he refused transport, police said. Police said they issued Murray an infraction for failure to grant the right of way. Police said they verbally warned Blankschen for driving an unregistered vehicle.
