To the Editor:The Newtown Bee for taking pictures.

Did you know that September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month? Well, these people did: Heather Morrison of Sandy Hook, Liz Milazzo of Brookfield, Lisa Sampson of Monroe, Maureen and Bill Pendergast of Sandy Hook, Cindy, Mike, and Mikey Sereday of Newtown, Robin Buchanan of Newtown, Jim and Corrine Edgar of Southport, Elaine Landau of Newtown, Lois Wheaton of Fairfield, Steve Oliver of Sandy Hook, Catherine Wiesman of Newtown, and Art, Stephanie, and Heather Monsanto of Sandy Hook.

They came together with their tracing, jig-sawing, sanding, and painting skills to make the yellow/gold wooden ribbons that (will be or that are) attached to the light poles in Sandy Hook Center during the month of September. We want to "Thank you" for all your help.

We would also like to say "Thank you" to SHOP for letting us spread awareness; Vito Kala, owner of The Villa Restaurant, for letting us use his parking lot, electricity, and for providing pizza and soda for everyone that helped; Newtown United Methodist Church for helping us get volunteers; and

Again, we appreciate everyone involved.
