Sal N Pepe defeated My Place to win the 8-year-old baseball title.
Sal N Pepe defeated My Place 7-4 to win Newtown's 8-year-old spring baseball championship this past week.
In what was a great defensive game from both teams, Sal N Pepe was able to hold off a strong performance from My Place.
For Sal N Pepe, Robert Murray, James Clifford and Eric Moore combined to pitch three solid innings, allowing only one run.
James Heran knocked down a line drive to make a great play at first base to end the game.
John Albanesi, Jack Murray, Nick Stowell, Matt Jewell, Alex Hagischi, Michael Paquin, Ben Drew and Luke Loudon all contributed multiple hits to help Sal N Pepe to pull away.
My Place jumped out to an early lead behind the strong hitting of Andrew Lally, Luke Melillo, Tyler Trede, Trevor Bottom, Brandon Giglio and Zach Keayes.
The strong pitching of Kyle Roche and Tim Davis, along with an outstanding catch by Jake Holman, kept the game close. Matthew Sadowski, Scott Preszler and William Kraus had strong games as well.
