Frank J. Carbone, Sr

Frank J. Carbone, Sr, 72, of Fairfield, formerly of Sandy Hook and Newtown, died February 12, with his family by his side. Born in Bridgeport to James B. Carbone and Jacqueline (Gagner) Carbone, he was a lifelong area resident.

He was a graduate of Fairfield Prep, Class of 1958, and attended Fairfield University. Mr Carbone was the owner of Metal Resource in Southbury, owner of the former Player's Tavern Restaurant in New London, N.H., and formerly the executive vice president of Fairfield Scrap Iron & Metal Company. He was a member of the Institute of Scrap Iron & Steel.

Mr Carbone loved the outdoors, and was an avid cross country skier and trained horses.

His loving children, Jill Kulmann and her husband, John, Lauren Bentley and her husband, Roger, and Frank J. Carbone, Jr survive Mr Carbone. He will also be dearly missed by his devoted mother, Jacqueline Carbone of Fairfield; his sister, Bonita "Boni" Lucas and her husband, John; four brothers, James and his wife, Joan, Richard and his wife, Aimee, NY, Dino, and Christopher Carbone and his wife, Tracy; his two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services took place February 16. Interment was in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
