A Life Devoted To Serving Others

Dover Seawright, Jr, 76, of Bridgeport, the beloved husband to Lillian Seawright, died February 5. "DJ," as he was affectionately known by his family, was born March 17, 1935, to Dover Seawright, Sr and Jesse Seawright in rural South Carolina. He relocated in 1954 to Bridgeport.

Mr Seawright worked for the Department of Mental Health, Fairfield Hills, and after 36 years of service, he retired in 1990. He also worked at St. Vincent's Medical Center as an Emergency Room Technician for 20 years before retiring in 1994.

He was ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of former Pastor Frederick J. Streets in March 1982 and served as Mount Aery Baptist Church Deacon Chairperson followed by later serving as Chaplain of Deacon Alliance of Connecticut.

Mr Seawright enjoyed playing and coaching the church softball team. He was an avid motorcycle rider, enjoyed fishing, and baseball and was a true New York Mets baseball fan. His love for music consisted of listening to gospel, blues, and classical jazz. During spring and summer, he could be found tending to his flowerbeds and vegetable garden. He loved cruises and traveling every summer with his wife.

In addition to his wife two sons and two stepsons; nine grandchildren; and several other relatives survive Mr Seawright.

Funeral services were scheduled for Friday, February 10, at Mount Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank Street, Bridgeport, with viewing beginning at 9 am until time of service at 11 am. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to Baker-Isaac Funeral Services, Bridgeport.
