Everett Hoffman, a resident of Maplewood at Newtown, 166 Mt Pleasant Road, will present an exhibit of his works on Wednesday, February 22, from 1 to 5 pm, in the wing outside of the Morning Glory kitchen at Maplewood.
Mr Hoffmann is a longtime respected artist who has shown in museums and galleries across the United States, including the Cleveland Museum of Art, Witte Museum in San Antonio, Texas; Butler Art Institute in Youngstown, Ohio; and Roko Gallery in New York City, as well as at the Bordighera Museum in Italy.
He has been a three time prize winner in oil, watercolor, and sculpture at the Village Art Center in New York, and served two years as administrative vice president of the Phoenix Gallery. In addition, he has exhibited paintings at Princeton University, Gallery One in Boston, and Romanet-Bercel Gallery in New York. He is represented in private collections through the Museum of Modern Art. Presently, Mr Hoffman is associated with "A Bicentennial Exhibit," in April, at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center for the performing Arts, in New York City.
Mr Hoffman graduated from the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Tech, and studied at the Institute of Design in Chicago. He has taught at Cooper Union and Pratt Institute in NYC, and at the Academy of Arts in Newark, N.J. He had a career in public relations at McGraw Hill while living in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He spent many days in Central Park and at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, creating the drawings and paintings which were then exhibited at galleries, art centers and museum.
Mr Hoffman will be available on Wednesday, from 3 to 4 pm, to speak about his techniques, inspirations, and to answer questions. The public is invited to view the show and meet Mr Hoffman during the special event.
